What Happens During My Automatic Transmission Service?

As you may expect, the main purpose of a typical automatic transmission service is to check on and change the transmission fluid, filters, inspect and clean the sump and magnets (if applicable) in your gearbox.

Similar to an engine, the automatic transmission contains a fluid that needs to be changed at specific intervals, and the filter needs to be kept clean. During this type of service, the transmission fluid is removed and the filter is replaced, so the technician will remove the transmission pan.

We will finally check for leaks, wear, and ensure everything is working properly.

Does my Mercedes automatic gearbox need servicing?

It is common for automatic cars to encounter transmission problems after reaching around 90,000 miles, but regular maintenance can help prevent these issues. It is recommended that you come in for a gearbox servicing at least once every 5 years to preserve your automatic transmission and its performance. Failure to ignore gearbox warning lights or faults could cause major issues.

If you use your vehicle for towing, you should get your auto transmission looked at more frequently.
