No, a health check isn’t the same as an MOT. Your MOT is a legally required service that has to be carried out every year. New Mercedes Benz vehicles don’t need an MOT in their first year. An MOT checks how roadworthy your vehicle is, and ensures that it is safe to drive, both for you and for other road users.
Your health check is an entirely optional visual check. It can be carried out at any time, by any Mercedes-approved garage or mechanic and does not replace your MOT. A health check is a great way to make sure your car is running at an optimum level and is maintaining its value, while also preventing breakdowns.
When you have a vehicle health check, you’ll be given a colour-coded “traffic light” report. This will indicate all of the areas where your car is good to go (green), where there are recommended repairs/servicing that aren’t urgent (amber), and any urgent actions or emergency repairs that need to be made (red). From there, you can book repairs or servicing with your mechanic as usual.
No, your warranty isn’t affected by a vehicle health check. As it is an inspection, with no active work carried out until you book in after your health check inspection report, your warranty isn’t affected at all by a health check. It does give you a good indication of areas you’ll need to keep an eye on and to carry out any repairs that are urgently required.
